Whalewatching from Littleisland Lighthouse

We have an excellent view from the Lighthouse keepers' residence. Every now and then, we see different kinds of whales coming up to the surface in the sea around Littleisland. Be on the lookout and you may spot humpback whales, which have been observed from the island.

Orcas coming in to the bay at the lighthouse

Orcas are also seen here regularly. Sometimes they even swim into the bay in front of Littleisland Lighthouse! This doesn't happen every day, but they have been spotted year round. The orcas often come into the fjords hunting the herring which stay there over winter. The mackerels also tempt the orcas to come into shallower water in spring and summer.
